Plan with clarity.

Not every warning means replacing the RT. Explore five chapters and try the simulations to distinguish memories, certificates and service. Expand the presentation and share a chapter with your team. This guide concerns Italian fiscal devices and regulations.

Guide scope: RT-90 and RT-81. Replacement guidance describes GTN’s service procedure for these models.

GTNRT lifecycle

01 | Overview

One device. Three distinct components.

DGFE, summary memory and certificate have different functions and lifetimes. Select a component to explore what it measures.

Three parameters to check separately.

Check DGFE space, remaining closings in summary memory and the certificate expiry date separately. A single indicator does not describe the register’s complete status.

RT-90 | RT-81 — AT A GLANCE

Three components. Different rules.

DGFE

Stores operation details: the electronic “second roll”. Its lifetime depends on the amount of recorded data, rather than a fixed number of years.

DGFE full: replace only the DGFE. The register remains in use.

Fiscal memory

Stores daily closing summaries. Capacity: 3,650 closings for RT-90 and 3,000 for RT-81. At the limit, memory is full and cannot be expanded.

Fiscal memory full: for these models, replace the entire RT.

Device certificate

Enables communication with the Italian Revenue Agency. Valid for 8 years from issue at registration, including periods of inactivity. Check the actual certificate date.

Certificate expired: for these models, replace the entire RT.

Fiscal memory full or certificate expired: either condition is sufficient. These replacement rules concern RT-90 and RT-81 and GTN’s service procedure. For other models, check manufacturer instructions with an authorised technician.

QUESTIONS | ESSENTIAL ANSWERS

The differences
that matter.

Select a question to read the answer.

Must I replace the register when the DGFE is full?

For RT-90 and RT-81, no: only the DGFE is replaced. An authorised technician changes the detail memory and the register remains in use. For other models, check manufacturer instructions.

Does fiscal memory count receipts?

Summary memory stores daily closing data. Document details are stored in the DGFE. Document quantity and closing count are different measures.

When is the entire RT replaced?

For RT-90 and RT-81, GTN’s service procedure is to replace the entire register when fiscal memory is full or the device certificate has expired. Both conditions do not have to occur.

Do the eight years start at installation?

The term starts when the certificate is issued at device registration. Subsequent installation or inactivity does not automatically change its expiry. Always check the actual certificate date.

When should I contact GTN?

When an exhaustion warning appears, when remaining closings approach the limit or before certificate expiry. Provide the model, serial number and displayed message to arrange a check and plan service.
